From that, the idea of having superhero trading cards based on our personalities was sparked which evolved into a having a superhero combat computer game that showed our player profiles.
We had originally agreed to design a superhero and super villain that reflect our personalities but have decided to chose which side, good or bad, we would like our character side to be on. We all decided that we would most like to become villains.
For our class in week four, we decided to design the basis of our characters. I conceived the character 'The Stitch Witch' as my own super villain identity and gave myself the power to stop time for short periods, teleportation through the creation of portals, slight precognition and scissor throwing (as well as other sewing related tools and weapons like needle darts and super strong thread etc). These powers were influenced by my love of Doctor Who and sewing.
Below is a sketch I made of The Stitch Witch
We also asigned jobs to each member. Mine was to come up with a layout for the character selection screen.
Of the proposed ideas we decided to have the character selection in the shape of a playing card. Here is the chosen design idea.
I then moved to designing the card profile itself. I created many variations of the design.
The White background was removed, as were the boxes around the Strength, Stamina and Power boxes.
Some transparency was added and the Strength, Stamina and Power boxers were moved closer together.
The edges of the boxes were all squared off. The transparency of the background was removed.
The Character in the final card design was made slightly transparent as well.
The cards measure Strength, Stamina and Power which are aspects that represents the teams evaluation of its other members (these images are the design ideas and do not reflect the final result).
The box at the bottom of the card has space to show the character name, the real name, the powers/abilities and origin story of each person and their super villain counterpart.
The artwork was done by Pastel.
I then took this design and recreated for all the character profiles.
We also discussed how we would evaluate each other. The strength, power and stamina bars on each of the profiles is how we decided to show this, and was why the bars were initially added to the profiles. Power means what you bought to the team and strength is how you applied these skills and ideas. Stamina is the attitude and attendance.
